Avon Marching Black and Gold, based in Avon, Indiana, is widely recognized as one of the best high school marching bands in the country.

With 250–300 students participating across marching band, drumline, and color guard, the financial commitment is significant. The fees alone exceed $1,000 per student, and winter ensembles bring additional costs depending on the group and equipment required. From the outside, many assume that a program performing on national stages must be well-funded.
"We’re not made of money," Jen affirms. "Everything is achieved through fundraising. We also credit a lot of our success to our director and staff."
