A volleyball team fundraiser everyone can dig

It’s exactly what it sounds like—serving as many balls as possible to raise money. Serve-a-thons ... have little to no overhead costs, as your team can use the gym and equipment they already have. Students register in teams and collect pledges per ball that they hit during the serve-a-thon; offer these pledges on a sliding scale to encourage more people to donate. During the serve-a-thon, each team competes to hit all their serves, with points awarded for each hit. The winning team receives a prize, and the volleyball team keeps all the profits raised. 

While it may not be on a typical list of volleyball fundraising ideas, dodgeball is always a school ... wide hit (pun intended). Charge teams for registration, and hold different matches, such as teachers vs. students or juniors vs. seniors. Add a creative twist by incorporating a tournament theme, such as a costume contest. Alternatively, you can keep it simple with a traditional dodgeball game. During the event, set up a concession stand for snacks, drinks, and team merch like T-shirts or water bottles to make some extra cash. 

There are two ways to host skills clinics. First, your volleyball team could offer a camp for ... beginners or students hoping to join the team, helping to raise money and recruit new players. Your team could also partner with a professional player or coach to run a volleyball clinic, imparting new skills, advice, and team-building exercises. A team-run clinic is easier to plan, but a professional may draw a bigger crowd, so there are advantages to consider with each option. 

Collaborate with local businesses to receive financial sponsorship in exchange for advertising ... their brand. With sponsorships, companies can see exactly where their money goes, which can be more motivating than a direct donation. For instance, if a company sponsors new uniforms, you could put their logo on the sleeve. If they cover a season of court rentals, you can hang a banner with their name and website in the gym. It’s a win-win: businesses gain exposure and a charitable reputation, while the volleyball team meets their fundraising goals.
